The reason why Sprig never speaks! I thought about Sprig and her character a lot and right from the beginning I knew that she would be mute, which I feel like pushed me to develop her character so much more. She’s definitely the most mature of the girls as well as was the most caring, but I never wanted that to erase her sense of humor and fun and I hope that comes across.

It made me think a lot about the ents and who they are and they’re role in this world. They’re so incredibly long-living that there would definitely be some that were there during the last war, when so many of the other races weren’t (the immediate exception being Juliet’s father and some of his entourage and her siblings).

The ents by-and-large are ambassadors and historians. They have the most unbiased record of world events, but this record is kept with the ents in their secret groves where it’s safe. Ent ambassadors are called upon to represent that history or attest to past events. But the most important thing that the Ents do is use their knowledge and history to prevent mistakes from happening again.
